ENTRANCE PREPARATION.

Friends here I am sharing some of the experiences of my own and my friends who got good rank in entrance. These are the guideline about how to prepare for entrance. Hope it will help you.
ATTITUDE
A positive attitude is key to success. It has a great impact on your work performance. Trust yourself. Know what exactly you want and believe with conviction that you are going to get it. Always expect success and never give up .
DEDICATION
Sachin Tendulkar once said that there was never a  period of 30 min in his life when he hasn’t thought of cricket. Thats his dedication to cricket. You need a similar kind of dedication when you are preparing for entrance. Think of  only and only entrance and nothing else.
Avoid all kind of temptation. Social networking sites such as facebook, whatsapp are real killer. They will kill your career. Use phones only when extremely necessary otherwise keep them switched of f most of time( I know its really very difficult but remember great goals require great sacrifices !!)
TIME TABLE
“Plan the work and work the plan” . Prepare a timetable. It should be according to your convenience. Don’t prepare it in hurry give it some time. Take into account all the things.
Here I  am giving an example of time table you can modify it. It based on mark distribution in aims entrance
So, suppose you start preparation in jan 1. And planned to finish it till sep end.  Then you have 9 months in hand (270 days) keep Sundays for test and revision and recreation (36 Sundays and 4 other holidays ) so now we are left with 230 days.

 HOW TO STUDY PRO/RETRO ?
Whether to read text first and then solve the MCQ, or solve MCQs first and then read the text? Thats individual choice. Some like to read first, understand it fully and then go to MCQs ,  but most of the students who cracked the entrance in the past did the opposite. So solve MCQs first and then read related text only
It has advantages
1.       you will know what type of questions are asked
2.       what topics are important. ( there is trend in many entrance exams that MCQs are asked from same topic. MCQs may not be repeated but topics are . so you should be well versed with commonly asked topics )
3.       its a time efficient  method

Any entrance exam has 3 types of MCQs
1.       repeat MCQs as they appeared in previous exams
2.       MCQs from same topics
3.       MCQs from new topic
Hence there are 3 levels of preparation
Level 1- prepare previous year papers MCQs. They should never be marked wrong. Even 1% error in marking them incorrectly will throw you out off competition. But this will not give you a rank
Level 2- prepare previously asked topics well. There are numerous book available which have given the explanatory answers and covered the topic.
If you think that you need more information then you may refer textbook ( and don’t forget to take notes ). This will give you a rank
Level 3- read text book thoroughly. This will give you an extra edge over others . .

REVISION
You  must revise on regular basis. Revise the stuff you read whole day before going to bed or next day morning before starting. Revise weeks study on Saturday and monthly before giving a grand test ( it is advisable to join one). Keep last 2 month before exam just for revision. Revision is as important as reading new topic. Make small diaries for all volatile material ( eg. chromosome n disease , DOC etc) . carry them with u n revise it frequently
DISCUSSION
This is frequently ignored but one of the most important aspect of entrance preparation. Do it daily. Its not necessary that you must have read the topic previously . form a group of 2-3 student . keep reference books with you so if there is any query you can immediately look into the book ( again take the notes). At least discuss for 3-4 hrs daily.
TAKE A BREAK
A human mind can not maintain concentration more than 45 min to 1hr hence take a break at regular intervals . take a break of 5min every hour, of 30min -1hr every 3hours and ½ day off after every 6 1/2  days of study. Remember friends this is a very crucial issue. Many time we end up taking more breaks than study. It should not happen. And you are entitled to breaks only and only when you have studied seriously .
                                                                    ALL THE BEST !
